The integration of drones and the Internet of Things (IoT) provides a novel solution for smart cities.

Smart agriculture devices utilize IoT (Internet of Things) technology to enable farmland environmental monitoring, precision irrigation, and automated management, covering soil sensors, agricultural drones for pest control, intelligent farm machinery, and livestock tracking systems. Core functionalities include:

• **environmental sensing** (temperature/humidity/light intensity/soil EC values)

• **intelligent decision-making** (irrigation/fertilization algorithms)

• **remote control** (automated tractor navigation)

relying on wireless communication technologies such as LoRa, NB-IoT, and 4G/5G for data transmission and command execution.

Future development trend direction

Drones’ antennas will evolve towards **conformality, miniaturization, intelligent reconfigurability, and multi-band integration**. Conformal antennas will be integrated with the fuselage to reduce wind resistance and load; AI-driven adaptive beamforming and phased array technology will enhance anti-interference capabilities in complex urban and mountainous environments, supporting beyond-line-of-sight operations.

By integrating 5G/satellite communication, air-ground-satellite hybrid links will be achieved. The development of software-defined reconfigurable antennas will enable one antenna to adapt to multiple tasks. Meanwhile, reinforcement and hardening processes will be strengthened to facilitate fully automated operations for drone swarms and intelligent drone nests. The modularization and standardization of antennas will be promoted to adapt to various industrial scenarios in the low-altitude economy.
